Example house-hunt: compare your shortlist. Or drop in the postcodes of friends and see who lives highest.

Using the comparison tool

Enter between two and five UK postcodes, separated by commas. The tool fetches each one's elevation and shows them ranked from highest to lowest, with the headline difference in feet and metres at the top.

When is this useful?

House-hunting is the obvious case — if you're weighing up a flat in the bottom of the valley versus a terrace on the ridge, the elevation difference can matter for heating costs, flood risk, views and garden drainage. It's also a useful sanity check when planning routes, comparing climate exposure between two homes, or just settling the pub argument about whose house is highest.

Single postcode lookup

If you only want to check one postcode, use the elevation lookup tool, which includes a full profile with UK rank, percentile, and a map.
